Welcome to Camp!

Welcome to HuntPrep Starter Camp – you’re in the right place if you’ve ever thought “I’d love to hunt, but I have no idea where to start.”

What This Group Is For

This forum is your campfire for all things beginner hunting: tags, licenses, gear, scouting, safety, and that first sit in the woods.Use this space to ask questions, share progress, and connect with other new hunters so you don’t have to figure it all out alone.

Who This Group Is For

This group is for brand‑new or early‑season hunters who want clear guidance, no‑judgment questions, and a supportive place to learn. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by regulations, seasons, or what gear you actually need, you belong here.

How To Use This Forum

  • Post any question, no matter how “basic” it feels – if you’re wondering, someone else is too.

  • Start a new thread for specific topics (licenses, scouting, shooting, gear, etc.) so others can easily find and join the conversation.

  • Share wins and updates (first range trip, first trail cam pics, first sit, first harvest) to encourage the rest of the camp.

  • Use clear titles like “Help choosing a first rifle in VA” or “Confused about deer seasons in [your state].”

Community Guidelines

  • Be respectful: We’re all learning; no shaming, gatekeeping, or talking down to other hunters.

  • Be safe: Follow your local laws, prioritize firearm and treestand safety, and don’t encourage anything unsafe or illegal.

  • Be helpful: When you can answer a question, share what’s worked for you and why.

Introduce Yourself Here

To get started, hit “Reply” and drop a quick intro:

  • Where you’re from

  • What you want to hunt first (whitetails, turkeys, etc.)

  • Your biggest question or challenge right now

Your first post can be as simple as: “I’m in Virginia, want to start with whitetail, and I’m confused about where I’m actually allowed to hunt.”
